About the Society - Committee Responsibilities
Society Committees
Audit
Reviews the financial records for accuracy and compliance with generally accepted accounting principles.
Budget
Works with the Treasurer to prepare the budget for the upcoming Fiscal Year and submits it to the membership for approval at the Annual Meeting.
Directory
Updates and maintains the membership records of the Society, in conjunction with the Secretary, to maintain an up-to-date listing of members, transactions, etc. in preparation for the distribution of the Directory which is presented annually to each member of the Society.
Education Seminars
Oversees and assists Board Members or members to organize various Educational Presentations in different localities for the purpose of networking with and continuing education for colleagues.
Fall School Gifts
Selects the gift which is given annually at the Fall Training School Registration Desk to each member attending.
Fall School Hospitality
Coordinates the Hospitality Room at the Fall Training School. Duties include working with the hotel for ordering supplies and compliance with hotel regulations. Contacts numerous people to work and schedules same. Opens and closes the hospitality hours and secures the room each night.
Fall School Planning
Shares ideas and makes recommendations for presentation by the President to the NYCOM committee at the Fall School Planning Session.
Fall School Registration
Prepares all items necessary for the registration desk at the Fall Training School. Items include, scheduling workers, maintaining supplies, and opening and closing the desk.
Legislative
Promotes current Legislation and lobbies for new Legislation. Represents the Society at the Legislative Session.
Membership
Markets the Society by contacting those Finance Officers who attended the Fall Training School but are not members.
Newsletter
Assists the Editor with items for the Newsletter.
Nominating
Seeks members who are interested in becoming Board Members and recommends a slate of officers for the coming year to be presented for nomination at the Annual Meeting Election of Officers.
Thelma Pelych Advancement Award
Promotes our Scholarship to our members who are furthering their Professional Education to enhance their Duties as Public Officials. Selects the Award winners from applications submitted.
